Baba Ramdev declines Padma Vibhushan Award

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, who was reportedly in the list of recipients of Padma Vibhushan, which was not made public officially, has declined to accept the award, saying he is a ‘Sannyasi’, who does not need such recognition and rewards.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Baba Ramdev requested to give this award to a distinguished person, who deserves it. “For me, awards and rewards do not make any significance,” he further added.

The development comes prior to an official announcement by the NDA government on the final list of this year’s Padma awardees. The Ministry of Home Affairs, has termed the names floated in the media as ‘speculative’ and asked everyone to wait for the official announcement.
