BJP names Kiran Bedi as CM Candidate in Delhi

Kiran-Bedi-BJPAs speculated earlier, the BJP Parliamentary Board has announced India’s first Woman IPS Officer Kiran Bedi as its Chief Ministerial candidate in Delhi. Bedi had joined the BJP only on January 15 to counter the AAP and its leader Arvind Kejriwal. Bedi will contest from BJP’s traditional seat – Krishna Nagar.

BJP President Amit Shah himself held the press conference to announce the decision. The party had earlier tried its best to curb the resentment and rebellion within the Delhi unit and entrusted Home Minister Rajnath Singh to talk to the dissidents and senior leaders, who were upset at Kiran Bedi’s unprecedented elevation. Amit Shah confirmed that all leaders and cadres from the top to bottom have accepted the decision to anoint Kiran Bedi as the CM candidate in Delhi.

65-year-old Kiran Bedi, who started road show in Delhi today, has set her priorities and goals. She will focus on women’s safety, cleanliness drive, safe drinking water and other development agendas. during her poll campaign in Delhi.

The BJP has announced the list of 62 candidates for Delhi polls. Prominent candidates such as Kiran Bedi (Krishna Nagar), Krishna Tirath (Patel Nagar), Jagdish Mukhi (Janakpuri East), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), MS Dheer (Jangpura) and Vinod Kumar Binny (Patparganj) are figured in the first list. Satish Upadhyay won’t contest polls. 20 youth faces and 5 women in the list. However, it is not confirmed whether Shazia Ilmi will fight the polls or not.

Delhi will go to polls on February 7. Results will be announced on February 10. The main fight in Delhi is between the BJP and AAP. Now, the products (Kejriwal and Bedi) of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement will fight it out to get the mandate to rule Delhi.
