BJP stunned, as Congress sweeps Rajasthan Bypolls

ONI Bureau: The BJP and CM Vasundhara Raje received a major setback, as Congress swept the bypolls in the state by winning all 3 seats – 2 Lok Sabha and 1 Assembly seat.

Congress’ Vivek Dhakad has won the Mandalgarh assembly seat by 12,976 votes.

All three seats were with the BJP earlier. The bypolls were necessitated following the death of Sanwarlal Jat from Ajmer (Lok Sabha), Mahant Chand Nath Yogi from Alwar (Lok Sabha), and Kirti Kumari from Mandalgarh (Assembly).

Congress winning both Lok Sabha bypolls, is a huge development for the party, as it had drawn blank in Rajasthan in 2014 polls. It is believed that Congress is way ahead of BJP in Rajasthan under the strong leadership of Sachin Pilot.

Congress Candidate Raghu Sharma won Ajmer Seat by defeating BJP’s Ram Swaroop Lamba. Sharma got 605023 votes whereas Lamba secured 521427 votes.

Likewise, Congress defeated BJP from Mandalgarh Assembly seat with a margin of 12,976 votes and got a massive win in Alwar by defeating BJP by 1,97,707 votes.

Meantime, Trinamool Congress won in two seats. Trinamool candidate Sunil Singh won Noapara Assembly constituency by a margin of 63,000 votes and TMC’s Sajda Ahmed won Uluberia Lok Sabha Constituency by 4,74,510 votes.
