Farmer commits Suicide at AAP Rally, Kejriwal Slammed

Farmer-Gajendra-SinghIn a shocking development, a man from Rajasthan, who claimed himself to be a farmer, committed suicide at the Kisan Rally organised by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The incident happened even as Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal did not stop and continued with his speech. He left the rally only after completing his speech.

The farmer, identified as Gajendra Singh Rajput, hailed from Dausa in Rajasthan. He climbed up to the tree, spent more than 30 minutes there, talked about committing suicide, displayed a broom (AAP symbol), tied a towel to the tree and then committed suicide. Neither AAP leaders, workers or policemen tried to save his life. And, the media filmed the incident instead of saving Gajendra’s life.

Gajendra was rushed to RML Hospital immediately, but he was declared brought dead. Later, AAP MP Dharamvir Singh admitted mistake, saying the rally should have been stopped immediately. “We failed to assess the situation,” he said. It’s an irony that Kejriwal continued to give political speech over the issue even as the farmer was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

Former Congress MP from Dausa, Sachin Pilot expressed his shock and grief over the incident, saying nobody tried to save the poor man’s life. The BJP accused Kejriwal and AAP of killing the humanity and asked them whether they want to play politics over a dead body. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered a probe into the incident and sought a report on this.

The suicide note written by Gajendra said,”I am a farmer’s son. We have nothing to eat home. It is because of crop loss. My father threw me out of home. I can’t go home. I don’t know what to do. Please show me the way”. But, the way he chose, was horrific and shocking. It will be a rude shock for his wife and three kids.
