Five Prisoners escape from Nagpur Central Jail

Criminal Escape from Nagpur JailIn a major security lapse, five prison inmates accused of serious criminal offences fled from Nagpur Central Jail, Maharashtra on Tuesday morning.

Bishan Singh Phuke , Mohhamad Shaoib Salim Khan, and Satendra Gupta , all three accused of murder under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crimes Act (MCOCA), managed to escape from the jail along with Prem Nepali and Akash Thakur accused of dacoity and robbery.

The incident came to fore at the time of daily roll call in the morning when they were found missing from the respective jail barrack.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra government has suspended the jailor Vaibhav Kamble. The intense search operations have been launched to nab the culprits and an inquiry has also been ordered in this regard.

Yakub Menon, who has been sentenced to life for being involved into 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts and underworld don Arun Gawali are some other “high profile criminals” in the jail.
