Gujarat Polls: Unjha votes against “Local Boy” Modi

ONI Bureau: While BJP managed to retain Gujarat, thanks to the hard work and relentless efforts of PM Narendra Modi, his home town Unjha voted against him. Congress candidate pipped the BJP rival by 19,529 votes here. Unjha encompasses Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown Vadnagar.

In Unjha, Congress candidate Dr. Asha Patel polled 81,797 votes, while Lalludas Narayanbhai Patel of the BJP got 62,268 votes. The Congress has taken a potshot at Modi, asking how he failed to convince the voters on his home turf.

It can be recalled that PM Modi became the first Indian PM to vote in Gujarat elections. He received massive response in Ranip on voting day, which prompted the Congress to accuse the Election Commission of bias and giving a long rope to the PM.
