High Alert in India following Peshawar Attack

Pakistan-Peshawar-TerrorAfter the Pakistan Taliban militants killed 132 school children and 9 other staff members in yesterday’s heinous and barbaric attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, a high alert has been issued in major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Apart from this, the Union Home Ministry issued alerts to all states to remain on alert in January.

High alert has been issued across Delhi with the Delhi Police sending message to all 160 police stations in the city to keep a tab on the schools and colleges falling in their jurisdiction. Security has been tightened in all schools and parks to prevent any Peshawar kind of attack. Delhi has over 5,000 government and private schools.

Meanwhile, both Houses of Indian Parliament mourned the death of 132 children and 9 school staff in Peshawar attack and observed a two-minute silence. Paying heed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal, all schools across India observed a two-minute silence.

Earlier yesterday, Modi had appealed on Twitter, “In the wake of dastardly attack in Pakistan, I appeal to schools across India to observe 2 mins of silence tomorrow as a mark of solidarity”.
