Janata Express derails near Rae Bareli, 30 Killed

At least 30 people were killed and over 150 others injured when the Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express derailed at Bachrawana near Rae Bareli. At least two coaches of the train went off the track. Two other coaches were damaged because of the impact.

Many injured are still in critical condition. Efforts are on to rescue the trapped passengers from the train. A team of doctors has been rushed to the spot. The injured are being treated at the hospital.

The death toll may go up further, as the rescue operations have been intensified further. It is not immediately known what triggered the derailment of the train. Initial reports suggest at a breakdown, which led to the mishap.
