J&K Traitor Masarat Alam arrested in Srinagar

Masrat-AlamThe Jammu & Kashmir government finally acted under pressure from the Union Home Ministry and arrested separatist leader Masarat Alam, who had raised anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans besides inciting the mob to wave Pakistani flags at a rally in Srinagar earlier this week.

Masarat was earlier put under house arrest ahead of the Tral rally. He was officially arrested this morning. Other separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabbir Shah are still put under house arrest.

The police has taken him to Shaheedgunj police station in Srinagar. It is believed that he will be sent to jail after being produced before a Magistrate. Although J&K Chief Mufti Mohammad Saeed was reluctant to arrest Masarat Alam, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s tough talks forced him to take this step.

BJP’s J&K in-charge Ram Madhav had threatened to pull out of the alliance if Masarat was not arrested. He will meet Deputy CM Nirmal Singh and CM Saeed tomorrow to discuss the issues related to India’s unity and security.
