Kejriwal offers Rs 20,000 per acre Compensation to Farmers

Kejriwal FarmersThe Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday appreciated the Delhi government for its decision to provide the highest ever compensation to farmers hit by unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the national capital.

The AAP, in a statement, said the decision of the Arvind Kejriwal government to provide compensation of Rs.50,000 per hectare (Rs.20,000 per acre) to every affected farmer was the highest ever by any government in the country.

“The AAP government has proved its pro-people character in each of its decision so far and the farmers compensation in Delhi should serve as an eye-opener for other state governments, where farmers’ crops have been destroyed,” it said.

Addressing a rally at Mundka in West Delhi, Kejriwal said farmers of Delhi faced huge losses due to unseasonal rains and the AAP government would do everything possible to support them. “We will provide a relief of Rs 20,000 per acre to farmers who suffered losses due to crop damage. This is the highest compensation announced by any government so far,” he said.
