West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced her decision to “entrust the investigation” in the gang rape of a 71-year-old nun in West Bengal’s Nadia district to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) given its “seriousness” and “sensitivity”.
The issue had rocked the Parliament yesterday. Although CCTV footage is available, which shows three accused entering the school to rape the nun, they are still at large. A team from Vatican will visit the Nadia district to find out the truth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already expressed his deep anguish and sought a detailed report from the West Bengal government.
