Navy Dornier Aircraft crashes into Sea; Two missing

Dornier AircraftA Dornier aircraft of the Indian Navy on a routine training sortie crashed into sea about 20 nautical miles South West of Goa last night. The Naval Air Station at Goa lost radar and communication touch with the aircraft at 10:02 PM on 24 Mar 15. The aircraft is feared to have crashed soon thereafter.

The aircrew on board the ill fated aircraft comprised of two pilots and one observer.

One pilot , Commander Joshi was rescued by a passing fishing boat. Six Naval ships and four aircraft were immediately deployed to search for remaining two officers.

The Navy has ordered a Board of Inquiry into the accident.
