PM Modi attends Lalu-Mulayam Family Function at Saifai

Modi-Lalu-Mulayam1In a rare gesture, which set aside all political differences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ‘Tilak Ceremony’s of Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Yadav, who is getting married to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s youngest daughter Raj Laxmi. Tej Pratap Yadav is the grandnephew of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Modi met Lalu Yadav, Mulayam Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP Ramgopal Yadav at the function. He also blessed Tej Pratap and met the family members of Lalu and Mulayam, who wanted to click pictures with him. PM Modi reached Saifai at 10:45 AM this morning. He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik.

Lalu Yadav and Mulayam Yadav’s families requested the media not to see PM Modi’s visit from political angle and thanked the PM for accepting their invitation. Tej Pratap clarified that their opposition to the PM is issue-based, and not personal. Modi spent 45 minutes at the ceremony before leaving Saifai.

Several prominent leaders including JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad were among those who reached Saifai to attend the function. Former UP and Uttrakahand CM, Narain Dutt Tiwari, former SP leader Amar Singh, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj and JD(U) President Sharad Yadav were also present. Big B Amitabh Bachchan too graced the occasion and was cheered by the guests present there.

Modi-Lalu-MulayamAround 1,00,000 invites have been sent out for the ’tilak’ ceremony of Tej Pratap Singh Yadav. 500 luxurious Swiss cottages have been errected for the guests. 10 giant LED screens have been put up for live coverage of the ’tilak’. Arrangements have been made for over 3,000 VIPs including SP ministers and MLAs and multiple giant kitchens have been set up to cook food for them. Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who recently participated in the Saifai Mahotsava, will lend his voice this time too.

A massive deployment of security personnel including 8 SPs, 15 ASPs, 35 DySPs, 61 policemen in-charge of police stations, 11 companies of PAC and 2 RAF, 300 sub-inspectors, 1,400 constables, have been made in Safai. The wedding ceremony will be held in New Delhi on February 26.
