Rahul Gandhi makes last attempt to woo Gujarat Voters

ONI Bureau: In the dying hours of last day of campaigning for the second and final phase of Gujarat Assembly Polls, Congress President Rahul Gandhi made a last ditch attempt to reach out to the voters in Gujarat. He held a press meet in Ahmedabad and claimed that ‘Congress victory in Gujarat is imminent, as there is a massive undercurrent across the state’.

“We are confident of victory in Gujarat. BJP has lost the plot here. The massive undercurrent will bring Congress back to power in the state after 22 years, ending BJP misrule. There is no signs of Vikas in Gujarat, as claimed by the PM and his party. Traders, Patidars, Dalits are unhappy with BJP. Labourers, Farmers and Tribals are angry, as they have been at the receiving end for the last 22 years,” claimed Rahul in his first address as the Congress President.

Rahul hit out at PM Modi, saying “The Prime Minister is unable to answer people’s questions. The day Jay Shah controversy erupted, Modi went silent on the issue of corruption. He does not talk about farmers too. He is silent on Rafael deals. He only talks about religion, Pakistan and my family,” Rahul alleged.

On the issue of reservation for Patidars, he said that his party would introduce a bill in the assembly if they come to power in the state. On being asked why he keeps visiting temples only in Gujarat, Rahul reminded the reporter that he visited Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand too.

On the issue of Mani Shankar Aiyar, Rahul Gandhi said he showed zero tolerance to hate and abuse by suspending Mani who used derogatory language for the Prime Minister of the country. He also lamented the attack on former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh.

“As the Congress President, I want to change the political discourse in the country. I believe in politics of growth with love. I reject politics of hate, abuse and slander,” he added.

On a question of PM Modi’s Seaplane ride in Sabarmati River, Rahul said, “Seaplane ride is absolutely fine. It looks good. But, the PM must answer to questions to related to unemployment, healthcare, corruption, youth empowerment etc”.

“I will never forget the affection, warmth bestowed upon me by people of Gujarat. Thank you Gujarat,” he concluded.
