Rape Case filed against Senior IPS Officer, who exposed Mulayam

A day after exposing Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav through a audio sting, IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur and his wife Nutan Thakur landed in trouble, as the UP Government slapped rape charges against the duo in Lucknow.

The rape complaint was actually lodged by a woman on December 31, 2014. But, no case was registered for seven months. While Amiatabh Thakur is accused of rape, his wife has been charged of hatching the conspiracy.

However, soon after Mulayam Singh Yadav was exposed in the audio tape, in which he was heard threatening Thakur for raising questions on the functioning of some UP Ministers, the woman met UP DGP and got the case registered, signalling at a vendetta and witch hunting.

Amitabh Thakur has welcomed the FIR, saying he wants the truth to come out.  Thakur is currently posted as IG, Civil Defence Department in Lucknow. He is also the founder of National RTI Forum, a grassroots anti-corruption organisation, based in Lucknow.
