Sri Sri Ravi Shankar declines Padma Vibhushan

Spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has refused to accept Padma Vibhushan, saying he does not need such awards and recognition and batted for any distinguished person, who really deserves such honour.

Earlier, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev too refused to accept Padma Vibhushan, saying a Sannyasi does not need any award. Both Ramdev and Ravi Shankar have refused the award even though there was no official confirmation yet.

The final list is not yet announced by the government. It may be revealed either tonight or tomorrow morning. Rav Shankar thanked the government for considering his name, but expressed his inability to accept it.

“Rajnath Singhji called to inform me about Padma Awards.I thank Govt.for considering me.Instead of me, I’d like them to honour someone else,” tweeted Sri Sri.
