TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee regrets for anti-Modi Remarks

Kalyan-BanerjeeFearing a censure motion by BJP MPs in Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee expressed regrets over his objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public rally in West Bengal.

“If I have hurt anyone, I express my regret,” he said after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told him that he should express regret although she did not force him to do that.

“It was not my intention to insult the Prime Minister or show disrespect to Lal Bahadur Shastriji. I respect both of them. I made those comments in reaction to BJP President Amit Shah’s insulting remarks against our leader Mamata Banerjee,” he added.

Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that although the comments were made outside the Parliament, is was very serious, as a sitting Lok Sabha MP made those against the Prime Minister of the country, who is also the leader of the House.
