Vaiko’s MDMK walks out of BJP-led NDA

VaikoA few weeks after he openly celebrated slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran’s birthday in Chennai, MDMK chief Vaiko has finally walked out of the BJP-led NDA. Vaiko was upset with the Modi Government on various issues and alleged that the PM cheated people of Tamil Nadu on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue.

Recently, Vaiko had slammed PM Modi for sharing dais with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the SAARC Summit in Kathmandu. He also alleged that the Centre was trying to saffronise education and culture of the country.

As Vaiko remained critical of Modi and his government in the last couple of months, the BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu stopped talking to him and even demanded his ouster from the NDA. The MDMK had joined the NDA ahead of Lok Sabha polls, but failed to win any seat in Tamil Nadu.
