‘Amy’ nominated for Producers Guild’s Documentary Award

Asif KapadiaLos Angeles, Nov 24: “Amy”, “The Hunting Ground”, “The Look of Silence”, “Meru” and “Something Better to Come” have been nominated by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) for the top documentary award.

The winner will be named on January 23 at the award’s ceremony here. The PGA did not announce the nominated producers on Monday, reports variety.com.

Asif Kapadia’s Amy Winehouse documentary “Amy”, which was released in July and has earned $8.3 million, making it one of the top 25 grossing documentaries of all time in the US.

Kirby Dick’s “The Hunting Ground”, focusing on rape in college campuses, was released by Radius-TWC and grossed $391,507.

Mountain-climbing documentary “Meru”, a chronicle of the first ascent of a dangerous peak in the Himalayas, has reeled in $2.3 million since its release in August by Music Box.

“Something Better to Come” directed by Hanna Polak centers on a young girl who lives in a massive garbage dump outside of Moscow.

Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The Look of Silence” focuses on an optician who confronts the men who killed his brother during the 1960s Indonesian genocide.  (IANS)
