Brie Larson to get Outstanding Performer of the Year Award

Los Angeles, Dec 2: Actresses Brie Larson and Saoirse Ronan will be honoured with Santa Barbara Film Festival’s Outstanding Performer of the Year Award.

“This is an incredible year for emerging talent to take center stage and showcase their abilities. We’ve long been following the careers of Brie and Saoirse and their recent roles as empowered young women transcend time, place and circumstance,” festival director Roger Durling said.

The awards will be presented on Febuary 8 next year at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, reports variety.com.

Previous recipients of the honour include Steve Carell (“Foxcatcher”), Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Angelina Jolie (“A Mighty Heart”), Helen Mirren (“The Queen”) and Heath Ledger (“Brokeback Mountain”)among many.

The 31st annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival runs Febuary 3-13.  (IANS)
