Manushi Chhillar ends India’s 17-year-long wait

Manushi-ChhillarInsight Bureau: In the year 2000, it was Priyanka Chopra who was crowned Miss World . And, 17 years later, it was 20-year-old Manushi Chhillar from Haryana, who brought the same glory to the country.

Andrea Meza, who is Miss Mexico was the first runner up and was Stephanie Hill from England was second runner up. Manushi Chhillar, who studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat, walked away with the coveted crown.

A trained classical dancer, scuba diver, bungee jumper, Manushi Chhillar, wants to become a cardiac surgeon and open non-profit hospitals in rural areas.

“I think a mother is of highest respect. I don’t think its just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest respect”, was Manushi’s answer to the judges in the final round when asked which profession she thought deserved the highest salary and why.

PM Narendra Modi led the nation to congratulate Manushi Chhillar.
