Neil Nitin Mukesh to play Sanjay Gandhi in ‘Indu Sarkar’

Indu SarkarThere has been a speculation for the past few weeks that Neil Nitin Mukesh will be essaying the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s younger son, the late Sanjay Gandhi in National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film titled “Indu Sarkar” which turned out to be true.

The film is touted to be a drama based on Indira Gandhi’s declaration of Emergency in India during the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977.

Great efforts were taken to ensure that Neil looks like a carbon copy of Sanjay Gandhi. Getting his on-screen look, it took minimum six months to become perfect, with prosthetic make-up as experts from abroad were flown in to work on him.

Actress Supriya Vinod is essaying the role of late Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Kirti Kulhari in the lead role as a stammering poetess who rebels against the system.

Music composers Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri have also joined the hands for the first time to create music for Madhur Bhandarkar’s film “Indu Sarkar”.

The film is likely to release by mid 2017, after being shot in New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.
