Sky’s the Limit for Lezlie Tripathy – Beauty with a Brain

This gorgeous young actress from Odisha has achieved fame with little span of time in Ollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood and even Hollywood. In the glamour world, Lezlie Tripathy is an icon, who inspires millions of youth.

She is a versatile actor, who wants to act in challenging characters, as she finds it very therapeutic. That is evident from here Bollywood debut role as Roohi Malik in her debut film “W- Being Woman” which recently won ‘Best Youth Film of The Year’ and was slotted as top 5 films made on Women’s Empowerment of 2014 . And prior to that she also did an Indian version of Hollywood movie, in which she achieved accolade for her acting skills. Recently Lezlie also recieved applause for her role as Angel in Telugu Movie ‘Chusinodiki Chusinantha’, in which she is cast opposite South Star Sivaji. Lezlie was cast in the film after Sivaji rejected 4 heroines and decided to cast Lezlie as his heroine after he saw a tamil advertisement of hers. He found Lezlie’s face very sweet and expressive. One can get glimpse of her acting skills by just looking at her beautiful eyes.

A poet and orator with expound linguistic skills make her different from other artists in film fraternity. Not only is action, Lezlie is a master of many languages. In an interview, Bollywood director N.Chandra, once said that he had chosen Lezlie for his Indo-American project, ‘A Woman From Georgia’ soon after she auditioned for her English accent and acting skills. Lezlie is highly educated and talented. She is a gold medalist in English Literature. Her love for English literature has ignited her passion for acting. She loves reading Shakespeare, Ernest Hemingway and many other scholars’ literature work. The characters like Cleopatra, Juliet, Hester Prynne, Elizabeth Bennet, in the plays and novels inspired her to become an actress. She says “How the world would be….If I were to enact Cleopatra…..If I were to be Juliet or Hester Prynne or Liz Bennet.” Film industry gave her the opportunity to live in the variety of characters that she fantasizes often.

Lezlie-ActressLezlie is a poet-author of a Poetry Anthology, ‘Because I Am A Girl’, for which she received huge accolades and her writing emoting pathos and pain is compared to that of greats like Kamala Das, Nissim Ezekiel, Sylvia Plath and Pablo Neruda by one of well known Indian writers writing in English Professor M.A.Nare. There are a few actors in the world with such qualities – love for literature and obsession for acting. Lezlie is also the Editor of International Poetry Journal, ‘ Poesie India International’ and Brand Ambassador of The Eternity.

Lezlie’s educationist parents call her ‘Gogol’ (named after Russian Writer Nikolai Gogol). She inherited great culture from her parents. Her father Dr. Sailendra Narayan Tripathy is a Professor, Columnist and popular Indian English Poet, mother Ashoka Tripathy is a Teacher and brother Shakespeare King is a model-turned-actor.

Lezlie received many awards for contribution to Indian and Odia culture ans society, including Youth Icon Award, Rajiv Gandhi Samman and Governor Award. She is known as a Social Activist, who fights for justice, empowerment of downtrodden and destitute people.

For her leadership in raising social issues, she was appointed as Youth Ambassador of Polio Eradication Campaign for Rotary Club Heritage. She is also the Youth Ambassador of ‘Mahanadi Surakhya Abhijan’ (a campaign to save Mahanadi in Cuttack).
