5-Day Junior Red Cross National Level Camp ConcludesThe Five days National Level Junior Red Cross Study-Cum training Camp was organized at University High School, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar from 03.02.2015 to 07.02.2015. The objective of the camp was to motivate and prepare the Juniors (Junior Red Cross volunteers) for service motivated, disciplined, dedicated and responsible citizens in the contemporary society. More than 300 JRC Volunteers and Counsellors from different State – Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnatak, Tamilnadu, Jammu & Kashmir including 23 districts of Odisha – Jagatsinghpur, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Subarnapur, Khordha, Jajpur, Puri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Boudh, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Dhenkanal districts participated in the camp.

During the five (05) days camp participants were trained on the topics such as: History, Fundamental Principle, & Emblem of Red Cross movement, Voluntary Blood Donation, Road Safety, First Aid, Fire fight, WASH and Global Hand Wash etc including Yoga & Pranayam. Besides, Counsellors & JRC volunteers participated in the State Level WASH Mela held on 06.02.2015 at the premises of University High School, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. Dr. S.C. Jamir, His Excellency, Governor, Odisha & President, IRCS-OSB inaugurated the camp as the Chief Guest and Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Industries, School & Mass Education & Chairman, State Working Committee, Junior Red Cross & Prof.(Dr.) Ashok Das, Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University graced the programme as Guests of Honours and Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) & Secretary, Junior Red Cross presided over the programme.

5-Day Junior Red Cross National Level Camp ConcludesSri Niranjan Sahu, IAS., Collector-cum-Chairman, District Red Cross Branch graced the valedictory function of the camp as the Chief Guest. In his address he highlighted the objectives of the Junior Red Cross and advised to the Juniors to make Red Cross a part of your life.  Sri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA, Bhubaneswar, North, Dr. Susanta Ku. Dash, Registrar, Utkal University, Vani Vihar and Sri Ananta Narayan Jena, Mayor, BMC graced the programme as Distinguished Guest and said that Junior Red Cross volunteers should dedicate themselves for the service of vulnerable people in the society.

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB highlighted various activities of Junior Red Cross, Odisha and read the camp report in his welcome address. Merit certificates and awards were given to 36 participants qualified in different competitions such as G.K, Quiz, Extempore, Essay, Spot Painting, SKIT, Exhibition and Folk Dance, Song & Drama organized during the five days camp. Besides, Ms. Subhadra Sahoo, Sri Jagdish Behera as best Junior and Mr. R. Lomani & Ms. Santilata Panda, as best Counsellor, Best Team as Karnatak awarded by the Chief Guest. Resource person Sri Chakradahra Tripathy and Sri Ramkanta Mohapatra, Counsellors coordinated the camp and Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Junior Red Cross Officer I/C, Honorary Joint Secretary, IRCS-OSB offered vote of thanks.
