58th Senior Police Officers’ Conference Begins

DGP-MarikThe 58th Senior Police Officers’ Conference of Odisha Police began in Cuttack today. The conference was formally inaugurated by DGP Sanjeev Marik, IPS. In his inaugural address, DGP Marik stressed on basics of Policing such as collection of grass root intelligence, man management, police leadership, police behaviour, interaction with public, grievance redressal system, law and order, inspection of police stations, discipline, police training etc.

The DGP hailed the senior officers for successfully managing the last general elections and assembly polls, Kandhamal bypolls and ULB polls prior to those. He also raised the issue of strategic aspect of police leadership and advised the officers to be polite and courteous while dealing with women, children and weaker section of the society. “they must be treated with greater sensitivity and empathy and crime against them should be dealt with promptness”, he asserted.

Police-Conference-OdishaDGP Marik asked the police personnel to exercise maximum restraint and use minimum force while dealing with law and order and crowd control situation. It would be wiser to take the course of dialogue and discussion with the agitators to diffuse the crisis and maintain law and order, he said.

Sanjeev Marik also hailed the efforts of young S.P.s, who play a key role in fighting the Maoist menace and other criminal activities in their respective districts. The Conference will conclude tomorrow. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
