All India Handicraft Week begins at SIDAC, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: As per decision of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, the All India Handicrafts Week-2015 is being celebrated from 8th December to 15th December, 2015.

In our State, different programmes are being taken up through Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department both at State level and district level to encourage the handicraft artisans of the State Smt Snehangini Chhuria, Minister, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts inaugurated the Handicraft Week at SIDAC premises.

A Craft Competition was held in State Institute for Development of Arts & Crafts (SIDAC), Bhubaneswar from 02.12.2015 to 07.12.2015 amongst the trainees. The best three competitors were being awarded with cash prizes of Rs.10,000/-, Rs.7,000/- and Rs.5,000/- respectively. Among others Director Handicraft Smt Sanghamitra Kanungo, Joint Secretary Sri Raja Parija, Addl Director Handicraft Sri R.N. Panda and others were present.

Other programmes like inauguration of 10th Toshali National Crafts Mela-2015 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, Sate level Handicraft Award Giving Ceremony, Inauguration of Common Facility Centre (CFC) at Khandagiri and Awareness Programmes at district level by respective District Industries Centres/ Regional Industries Centres are being taken up within this week.
