Amway launches Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti

amwayAmway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the CSR arm of Amway India, unveiled a Recreation Centre for the children of Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti (PUSS) at Naharkanta Village in Odisha on Sunday. The objective of setting up the Recreation Centre is to facilitate holistic development of the girl children of PUSS. Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti is a project Sunrise partner of Amway Opportunity Foundation.

Ananta Narayan Jena, Hon’ble Mayor, Bhubaneswar, Panchan Das, IAS, Secretary, Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt of Odisha inaugurated the AOF-PUSS Recreation Centre at a special ceremony held at PUSS and K. Santi, Deputy Mayor, Bhubaneswar also present in this occasion.

The newly launched recreation center is a sequel to the AOF- PUSS primary healthcare centre which was set up in 2012.  All 248 girl children pf PUSS studying in  class I to class X will be able to enjoy stimulating activities at the recreational centre which has equipment for indoor games like Table Tennis, Carom and Chess and musical instruments like Harmonium, Tabla and Electric Guitar.  Dedicated teachers will also conduct regular classes on varied subjects like self-defense techniques, Yoga & meditation, Music, Dance and Drawing for the children. The centre will also impart training on beautician course to the interested girl students in the future.

Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President, East, Amway India and a volunteer of Amway Opportunity Foundation, said, “The endeavor of Amway Opportunity Foundation is to enable the less-privileged to lead better lives.  We have had a long and fruitful relationship with PalliUnnayanSevaSamiti and we are delighted to take this to an even higher level with the launch of this recreation centre which will provide much needed support to all the students.”

Bishnu Prasad Mohapatra, Area Manager, Odisha, Amway India and a volunteer of Amway Opportunity Foundation, commented, “We are delighted to present the Recreation centre to the girl children of PalliUnnayanSevaSamiti in Bhubaneswar.Amway Opportunity Foundation is committed to the holistic development of the less privileged children of the society and our continuing support to PalliUnnayanSevaSamiti is a testimony to that.”

AOF’s association with PUSS started way back in 2008 with the launch of a computer centre. Subsequently, AOF undertook annual educational and healthcare sponsorship for the children of PUSS.  In 2012, Amway Opportunity Foundation also set up a 10 bedded healthcare centre for PUSS to provide healthcare service for the children. In 2013, Amway Opportunity Foundation set up a Tailoring Centre for the girl children and unemployed women living in the neighboring villages. AOF has further upgraded the computer centre to a vocational centre this year. The centre now conducts a two year diploma course in computer application.
