CII organises Roadshow on EXCON 2015 in BhubaneswarBhubaneswar, Oct 9: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a Roadshow on EXCON 2015 – India’s premier event for the construction equipment industry. The roadshow was attended by leaders from industry and senior  representatives from CII, this included; Mr D S Ravindra Raju, Chairman, CII Odisha  State Council & Whole Time Director, Paradeep Phosphates Limited; Mr T R Bharathan, Excon 2015 Steering Committee Member & Chief Advisor, Puzzalona Group; Mr B K Joshi , ex- IRTS, Chief Executive Officer, Brahmani Railway Limited & Paradeep Investment Region Development Limited; Mr Rajdeep Mohanty, Chairman, CII North Odisha Zonal Council & Resident Director, Jindal Stainless Steel Limited.

EXCON 2015 is scheduled to be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore from November 25 – 29, and 2015. Spread across 220,000 square metres and with a participation of over 800+ exhibitors, including 300 foreign companies, Excon is the largest exhibition on construction equipment in South Asia.

In his presentation on Excon 2013, Mr T R Bharathan, Excon 2015 Steering Committee Member said, “This is the eight edition of the EXCON, the inaugural edition of which was held in 2000.  With each passing edition, the event has witnessed immense growth both in quality and in numbers. So, while this will be the largest event on all counts including the number of domestic and overseas visitors, exhibition area and new project launches, the biggest difference will be the presence of enhanced foreign players. There will be country pavilions including leading economies like China, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, Finland & UK.”

Excon 2015 would also have a large presence of SMEs in the component and aggregate manufacturing, showcasing India’s potential as a preferred outsourcing destination for construction equipment manufacturing. With the participation of almost all leading players in the construction equipment industry, the exhibition would aim at facilitating faster and sustainable development of infrastructure and related sectors in India. Some of the factors include;

  • To accelerate the road building capacity everyday
  • Speed up infrastructure development in an ecologically sustainable manner
  • Enhance rural connectivity & development for all inclusive growth
  • Position India as an outsourcing destination for component & aggregate
  • Focus on urban renewal by improving the quality of life in fast growing Indian

In his theme presentation on EXCON, Mr T R Bharathan said, “It is a known fact that the BRIC nations are at the forefront of development and growth in the global economy today.  The role Infrastructure can play in that growth story cannot be stressed enough, especially in India and this fact reflects in the projected investment in the infrastructure sector in the 12th plan period (2012-17), which is pegged at US$ 100 billion. Given these facts, it is absolutely essential for the construction and construction equipment industry to work closely with all stakeholders including government agencies, and events like EXCON can go a long way in facilitating that.”  The Government of Karnataka is the Partner State for Excon 2015 and the Indian Earthmoving & Construction Industry Association is the Sector Partner. The event is supported by the Builders Association of From live demonstrations of equipment for earthmoving & construction, lifting, material handling, concrete making, hydraulics, pneumatics and drills, to a display of power tools & piling, electronics, controls & instrumentation, compactors, and compressors & generators, Excon 2015 promises to give close to 35000 visitors from different parts of India, a great business opportunity. Apart from the participation of major equipment renting companies, and leasing and finance companies that offer on the spot loans, visitors can benefit by bench marking product features of different makes, interacting about their requirements with technical heads, and negotiating deals with chief executives. The event also acts as a forum to position India as an outsourcing destination for components, aggregates and equipment.

ICEMA, an affiliate body of the CII, will host a 2-day Conference on Rebooting Infrastructure on the theme ‘Build India for A Better Tomorrow’, coinciding with Excon 2015 on 26th and 27th November, 2015 at the BIEC Complex, Bangalore. The conference would focus on areas such as; Infrastructure Development and Industry Growth, ECE financing: Global best practices and scope in India, Skill & Manpower Development – Key to Sustainable Growth, Smart City Projects – Idea to Implementation, Component & Aggregate Manufacturer – MAKE IN INDIA, Market opportunities and gaps in key end use sectors of Earthmoving & Construction Equipment (ECE) – Roads & Railways, Urban Infrastructure, Irrigation etc.
