Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav enters into Second Evening

Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav The 11th Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav witnessed an evening showcasing a beautiful blend of classical and martial dances which regaled a large audience gathered at the foothill of Dhauli on the 2nd evening of the festival.  The programme started with an innovatory piece of Gotipua by the students of the Orissa Dance Academy.

They are presenting the historic background of Dhauli and the Bandha Nrutya exhibiting extraordinary skill and talent much to the joy and ecstasy of the audience. The second programme of the evening was by the artistes of Srjan presented Synthesis, Shraddha is affection personified. She is the goddess of confidence, faith, care and conviction.

Dhauli-Kalinga MahotsavAny endeavour that begins with an aim to achieve a goal needs all qualities.To succeed in accomplishing their objectives, the Rigvedic sees invoke goddess Shraddha. Their concluding item was Kubjaa a neoclassical innovation in dance. The choreography of this mythological presentation was by Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, the music was composed by Lakshmikant Palit and the script prepared by Shri Nityananda Misra

The last programme of the evening was martial dance of South East Asia by Rianto & Group. They have performed a collaborative work of martial art and contemporary dance from South East Asia and Russia “Moon and River”. Both moon and river with very distinctive characteristics provides the life source to human civilization. The theme is visualized with the strong magical power of the contemporary medium.

The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Shri Lalit Mansingh, Former Ambassador to USA & President Orissa Dance Academy; Shri Susil Kumar Das, Director Culture and Shri Krishna Mohan Trivedi, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India; Guru Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy. The programme was compered by Shri Milan Ghatuari and Anuja Tarini Mishra.
