ICAR-CIFA Annual Sports kicks off in Bhubaneswar

The annual sports 2014-15 of ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture was inaugurated at playground of the institute on 24 March 2015 in Bhubaneswar. The three day annual event was organized every year by the staff welfare club of CIFA to encourage all the staff members to participate in the sports. In this event around 300 staff members, scientists, students participate in the both indoor and outdoor games. The games like cricket, volley ball, badminton, table tennis, chess, carom, track and field etc are played with much enthusiasm and vigour among the members.

The programme was inaugurated by Sri Naba Ranjan Pattnaik, Joint Secretary, Athletic Association, Bhubaneswar. During his inaugural address he expressed his happiness in seeing large number of the staff members participating in the events. He expressed concerns many organizations are not giving adequate attention to sports which is essentially an important step in keeping people healthy and more productive in the work. His offered all types of support in terms of the coaching to the staff members in improving their sports acumen. Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director and chairman of the occasion has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in making the programme successful.

He assured the staff of the all the necessary support in encouraging people to participate in the sports events in future. The chairman of the sports committee Dr. P. Das, principal scientist also briefed the gathering about the event. The programme was coordinated by N. K. Barik, General Secretary staff Welfare Club of CIFA and in his speech he appraised the gathering about the activities of the club and importance given by the club for developing sports in CIFA. Mr. D. Tarai, sports secretary proposed vote of thanks. Mr. D. P. Rath, Captain of CIFA staff Cricket team, Mr. J. R. Biswal, Mr. SisirMohanty, Mr. SVN Murthy, Dr. S. S. Giri were present among on the occasion.
