Industrial Energy inks MoU with KISS on Tribal Children Education

Industrial Energy signs MoU with KISSKalinganagar, Sep29: Industrial Energy Limited, a Joint Venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel, is conscious about the importance of the education for students from backward children and has undertaken interventions in improving the education of tribal students of Kalinganagar area. Continuing the Company’s endeavour to positively uplift the lives of the communities, Industrial Energy Limited and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has entered into an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KISS for extending support to education of 20 tribal from Kalinganagar area which includes their education, food, clothes and other necessary essentials to become a good human being in the Society.

The objective behind this initiative is to provide quality education along with vocational training with residential facilities at KISS Campus in Bhubaneswar and to identify talents among the tribal Students to represents in National and International Games. The endeavor also includes providing guidance on Career Counselling and empowering them with choices from being entrepreneurial or working in a job.

The MoU was handed over by Mr Ashok Sethi, COO & ED-Operations, Tata Power, to Sri Surya Kant Mohanty, Chief Operating Officer of KISS at Tata Power’s Centenary Year Celebration function at Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anil Sardana, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said, “Our Company has steadfastly committed towards providing quality education to the children, residing in and around our area of operations. Moreover, we work for the holistic development of rural and urban Community in the area of Health, Education, Livelihood & Employability, infrastructure and sustainability. This MoU carries the essence of our promise towards positively affecting the lives of our communities.”

Further, Mr Vijayant Ranjan, CEO – IEL & Chief, Kalinganagar Power Station said, “The initiative will not only help the children for their education but also it will help to build a literate nation by empowering the school children and reducing school dropout. The MoU is aimed to increase participation of children in attending schools and sports activities regularly in the campus. It will further improve health conditions of children and quality education can save them from malaise like child labour, child marriages, gender inequality etc.”

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is the largest residential institute for the tribals in the world, providing accommodation, food, health care, and education from Kindergarten to Post Graduation, vocational training and all other basic amenities.
