Infosys Bhubaneswar undertakes ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya’

Infosys Bhubaneswar undertakes 'Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya'Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: Infosys Foundation in association with Akanksha, the CSR arm of Infosys Bhubaneswar, today announced the successful completion of construction of 161 toilets in 46 schools of Odisha, as part of its endeavor to support the Prime Minister’s ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan’ mission.

The 161 toilets were handed over to the school authorities in an inauguration ceremony attended by Sri Pranab Prakash Das, Honorable minister of Energy, Electronics and IT, Government of Odisha, Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena, IAS, Secretary water resource and IT, Government of Odisha, Shri Niranjan Sahu, IAS, Collector cum Dist Magistrate, Dist. Khurda and Prabhat Kumar Das, Centre Head, Infosys Bhubaneswar.

Under the first phase of this sanitation initiative, Infosys Foundation has built toilets in 46 government schools in the district of Khurda. The Foundation has signed a MOU with Government of Odisha undertaking OPEPA (Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority) for construction of toilets in 109 schools in the state. As part of the MoU drawn in May 2015, Infosys has set a target of April 2016 towards completion of the project.

Infosys is committed to strive for the betterment of communities in which it operates. Under the auspices of its charitable arm, Infosys Foundation, it supports the underprivileged sections of society with programs focused towards the areas of education, rural development, healthcare, arts and culture, and destitute care. Its mission has been to work in remote regions of several states in India.

In the past, the Infosys Foundation has associated with the state of Odisha to work in various areas such as cyclone and disaster relief, education, healthcare, etc.
