JSPL observes National Safety Week

JSPLJindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), observed the 45th National Safety Week with a series of sensitization programmes for its employees, workers and community members in and around the plant. In the valedictory programme held on March 10, 2016 MR. U.K Samantray, Asst. Director F&B, Angul Zone joined as Chief-Guest.

After the welcome address by AVP (HSE) Mr. Kaushalendra Singh, the Safety Oath was administered by Executive Director (I/C) and Location Head Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi. Addressing the huge gathering of employees, workers and contractors, Mr. Saraogi said, “The management is really thankful to all of you for adhering the safety norms and regulations of our organization. Safety means a lot to all of us. It is not only confined to any individual’s life but also it reflects the work culture of a plant and a happy family life. We are committed for “Zero Harm” and Yes, we can do it”.

Mr. Y. Degan, President-JSPL; Mr. Damodar Mittal, Factory Manager & EVP-Steel Business; Mr A.N.Tiwari, VP-CGP , Mr Ashish Pandey, GM-PMG and other senior officials were also present at the function.

JSPL-National Safety WeekDuring the observation of the safety week, JSPL organized competitions for school students of DAV Savitri Jindal High School, Employees of JSPL, Contractors and their employees. Competitions like Safety related drawing for junior and senior level students in schools, Safety Slogan and Fire Fighting competitions for JSPL and contractor employees were also held.

Bar Mill stood first, followed by CGP in the fire fighting and rescue completion where the Kaun Banega Surakhya Adhipati award won by Power Champ (Power Plant) from JSPL side and Jay Hind (Sinter Plant) from contractor side followed by Coke Oven and Safe India from CGP respectively.

All the winners and runners of different competitions were awarded with Certificate and Mementos. Dr. P.C. Niapney, GM-Safety and other senior officials distributed the prizes.

Addressing on this occasion Chief-Guest of the programme Mr. U.K.Samantray, said, “It is good to know that JSPL, has organized a series of safety related programmes to mark this safety-week as its culture. And, we are also happy to know that it has organized various competitions not only for people working in this factory but also for the school going kids. Organizing such kind of competition will definitely boost the courage of employees and students to fight any kind of tuff situation in their life”.

Some of the Activities of the National Safety Week also included display of safety messages in the Plant and Labor Colony, distribution of leaflets, etc. along with the Surakhya Rath, rolled all around the plant throughout the week and made employees, workers and commuters aware about safety related issues and its importance in our day to day life.

The annual safety report was also presented during the function by Mr. B.P. Singh, GM-Safety and the vote of thanks was given by Mr. P.K. Pradhan, DGM-Safety, followed by sweet distribution.
