Junior Red Cross organizes DEOs Conference in Bhubaneswar

Photo10Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: State Level Conference of DEOs & Secretaries/IPEs of Junior Red Cross, IRCS-OSB was organized today at Red Cross Bhavan, here today. Hon’ble Minister, Industries, School & Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha and Chairman, Junior Red Cross State Working Committee, Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. He advised the DEOs and District Secretaries to enhance the enrolment of JRC volunteers & Counsellors in the schools and involve them in various JRC activities in order to serve vulnerable people of the society & fulfill the motto of JRC “To Serve”. Besides, he proposed that, each school of the State should create the Green fencing, Kitchen Garden, Plantation Programmes at their school premises and to orient the children in hand washing practices & cleanliness of environment.

The Secretary of JRC, Dr. Chakradhar Panda welcomed the Guests and participants. Besides, he made a Power Point Presentation on the Activities of JRC during the year 2014-15 and also the activities undertaken by the JRC State Branch till date.

Smt. Ranjana Chopra , Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Deptt. of School & Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha stressed on the Cleanliness of the Students and the premises of the school throughout the  State.  She also requested the DEOs and IPEs to pursue the matter through the JRC Counsellors of the Schools of their respective districts.

Thereafter Dr. Panda took over the Business Session of the Conference. He asked the DEOs to remit the JRC Annual Registration fee and State Share of their Districts in time so as to enable the State Junior Red Cross to go faster to implement the planned activities in future endeavor.

Dr. Dakhya Prasad Nanda, President, Board of Secondary Education,  Sri Pravakar Mangaraj, Asst. Director, Physical Education & Smt. Snehamayee Senapati, Dy. Director, Board of Secondary Education took part in the discussion. Besides, more than 50 DEOs & IPEs from 30 districts of Odisha have put forth suggestions for implementation of the JRC activities at the district level.

Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary cum Junior Red Cross Officer I/C, IRCS,OSB proposed a formal Vote of thanks at the end of the programme. Sri N. R. Mishra coordinated the programme.
