KIDS-Bhubaneswar organises ‘Swachh Dant Abhiyan’

KIDS-Bhubaneswar organises ‘Swachh Dant Abhiyan’Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: ‘Swachh Dant Abhiyan’, the Clean Teeth Awareness Campaign, was organized by Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT University on Friday here. It was an initiative to create awareness among the public on oral and dental health and also about preservation of natural teeth.

An oral and dental health public awareness rally was taken out by the students of KIDS from Big Bazaar Square, Patia to KIDS campus. The theme of the campaign was ‘Life is best With Teeth; so join hands to give yourself a Smile 4 Life’.

A total of 150 students participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University in the presence of Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, Shri R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS, Shri P. Parida, Management Representative, KIMS, Prof. Shruti Dev, Vice Principal (Academics), Dr. J. Pathi, Administrative Officer and Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Faculty Incharge, Student Affairs, KIDS.

The students carried dental health related banners and placards. As an innovation, they gave away balloons to general public that had messages like drawing of ‘Smiling Tooth’ and messages like ‘Better Teeth… Better Health’ written on it. These balloons were also given to shops to tie it at the entrance. Many auto drivers also took them to tie it on their vehicles. Handmade gifts and cards with oral health message written on them were also distributed to children. Dr. Shyam insisted on four important aspects to keep the teeth healthy – twice brushing and flossing, healthy diet, abstinence from tobacco and alcohol and regular visit to dentist.
