KIIT-Bhubaneswar celebrates International Women’s Day

KIIT celebrates International Women’s DayInternational Women’s Day celebrated in KIIT University on Tuesday. The theme of this year is “Pledge For Parity”. On this occasion a function was organized. Addressing the gathering noted human rights lawyer and writer Nandita Haksar said, education and economic independence is the first step of women empowerment. Women are still struggling in every where for their rights. Every single day is struggle day for them.

Many suffer in silence. Silent women should come forward to speak out. They should speak out about their miseries and fight for their rights. We have a long way to go.  There should be parity between men and women in every sphere. Every successful woman has a very painful struggle. Women are fighting for much beautiful world, she added. There should be no confrontation but cooperation between men and women said Ratna Pathak Shah, actress.

Women in cinema are still treated as second class citizen. Women should ask question why this type of attitude towards them. Women are not less efficient than men. There should not be discrimination between men and women. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS said we always give importance to women empowerment. What we preach, we workout on it.

40% of KIIT employees are women and 60% in KISS. 40% students of KIIT are girls   While 60% in KISS. KIIT and KISS always give importance to efficiency and capability of women as men, he added.R.N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT and KISS said cardinal principle of KIIT and KISS is to respect to women. Where women are worshiped, the divine grace comes there. Saswati Bal, President, KIIT and KISS said there should be cooperation between men and women.

It should begin from our home. Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson, KIIT International School gave welcome address while Dr. Sasmitarani Samant, Registrar proposed vote of thanks. Among others Prof P.P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University and Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Students Services were also addressed the gathering.
