National Children’s Literary Festival concludes at KiiT-IS in Bhubaneswar

National Children’s Literary Festival concludes at KiiT International SchoolBhubaneswar, Nov 18: The two-day National Children’s Literary Festival (NCLF) organized by KiiT International School (KiiT-IS) concluded on November 15, 2015 with mesmerizing performance by Indian Idol (Junior) Ms. Ananya Nanda.

NCLF is the first of its kind in eastern part of India. Winners of various competitions were awarded at the valedictory ceremony, which was attended by Mr. Ruskin Bond, Chief Patron, NCLF and brand ambassador of KiiT-IS; Mr. Chandrahaas Choudhury, eminent writer and blogger; Mr. Ajit Narayan, noted cartoonist; Ms. Vinita Zutshi, storyteller; Dr. Monalisa Bal, Chairperson, KiiT_IS and Mr. Sanjay Suar, Principal.

The third edition of the festival was a huge success with over 600 students participating from 60 different schools across the country. It is considered to be a trendsetter in this realm as the literary festivals are not a common feature among the schools, especially in Eastern India.

The National Children’s Literary Festival in its finale enthralled the audience by a brilliant bilingual musical performance by Rangbaaz, a Mumbai based theatre group, on Roald Dahl’s adaptation of James and a Giant Peach, entitled “James aur ek Giant Peach”.

It enticed the audience with its interactive theatrical nuances, held the children’s attention with its brilliant storytelling and subtle messages weaving in its folds interesting contemporary issues. It used the jingles of contemporary Bollywood, combining them with serious messages. Ms. Ananya Nanda, winner of the prestigious Indian Idol Junior 2 was also felicitated on the occasion.

Winners of different competitions are: Quiz competition – Dhruv Aryan Kundra & Amlan Sarkar of Army Public School, Narangi; Story Telling (Junior) – Harishri, Vidyanidhi School, Trichur; Story Telling (Senior) – Ahon Gooptu, La Martiniere School for Boys, Kolkata; Short Story Writing – Roopambica Tripathy, DPS, Kalinga; Cartoon Making (Jr) – Mrinmoyu Mandal, Techno India Group Public Schools, Kolkata; Cartoon Making (Sr) – Pratik Biswal, St. Xavier’s High School, Bhubaneswar; Photography- Satyam Yadav, Deepika English Medium School, Rourkela; Photo Journalism- Shuvam Behera, DPS, Rourkela; and 60 Seconds to Fame – Vaishnavi Jhunjhunwala, DPS, Rourkela.
