Rains, Cops pose Threat to New Year Celebrations

Empires-AbhiyanThe low pressure rains in Odisha, has dampened the spirit of people in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack ahead of the New Year celebrations. Although hotels, pubs and other event managers are still hopeful of drawing huge crowd during Zero Hour celebrations on 31st Night, many others skeptical about the success.

For the first time in recent history, Odisha is witnessing rainfal on the eve of New Year. It is believed that only lawn parties will be affected, but those organise events inside the halls, won’t have to worry much. Hotel Mayfair, Hotel Empires, Hostel Swosti Premium, Pal Heights and many others are excited about the New Year celebrations despite the rain threat.

Hotel Sandy’s Tower and Hotel Green Field believe that even rain won’t create any big impact, as they can turn the celebrations into rain dance. Many private organisations and agencies are organising New Year parties at various locations and they are not very much worried.

However, the massive crackdown launched by the Commissionerate Police may play the spoilsport, as drunken driving won’t be spared this time. The cops have installed several check points in Bhuubaneswar to check drunken and rash driving. In addition, they have decided to impose hefty fines and restrictions on the people, who indulge in violence. All party-goers are worried, as without a driver, they might risk of facing the ire of cops.
