Rayagada Nagarika Mancha hands over TN Flood Relief Fund to CollectorRayagada, Dec 7: Denizens of Rayagada under the aegis of Rayagada Nagarika Mancha, after a three days donation drive in the Rayagada town, accumulated Rs.68,650 and handed over to the District Collector Sri Jagannath Mohanty in the DRDA Conference hall in front of all the district level officers assembled on the grievance redressal day.

All the officers present in the hall contributed voluntarily to the common fund.  This philanthropic effort was inaugurated by Sri Siva Subramani, SP, Rayagada at Jagannath temple and went around the main road of Rayagada town.

Dr. Ratan Das, an octogenarian Sarvodayee veteran initiated the “Happy Giving with a cause” concept which was carried away by Sri Jayaram Jena of Vinoba Smruti Committee, Advocate Sri Kedar Panda of Jagannath Temple Trust, Sri Badal kumar Tah of Zilla Sambadika Sangha, Advocate Sri Venkat Rao Senapati, Ex-Councillor, Advocate Sri Tutu Das, Sri Jogeswar Das, President, Bharatiya Majdoor Sangha, Sri Deepak Prusty, General Secretary, OUWJ-Rayagada unit, Sri Ajaya Ratha, Secretary-OUWJ, Sri Sunil, Sri Kali, Kumari Saraswati of Seva Samaj, Smt Bidulata Huika of Odisha Adibasi Mancha, Diver association members and many of their associates.

There was overwhelming and spontaneous support from the public which made this drive successful. Rayagada citizens’ Forum has resolved to take up issues like a medical college in Rayagada and other development issues like making the corporate accountable to the public of Rayagada. Such efforts have been applauded by local civil society groups and the general public of the town.
