Tata Power celebrates ‘Tata Volunteering Week 4’ in Bhubaneswar

TATA powerBhubaneshwar, Oct 7: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been committed to providing a cleaner and greener environment to the communities living in and around its operational areas. Continuing with this commitment, employees of Tata Power’s Kalinganagar Power Station and Industrial Energy Limited (IEL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel, joined hands together to conduct a Cleanliness Drive programme to celebrate the ‘Tata Volunteering Week 4’.

The objective of the cleanliness drive was to motivate the general public and create awareness amongst them on the importance of cleanliness, and its impact on human lives. A total of 25 volunteers from both the Companies cleaned the taxi and auto stands and other areas around the Railway station, which was much appreciated by the public. Other activities, like singing competition in Bhimabhoi Blind School, and health camps in Bhubaneswar and Jajpur Road, were also conducted under the Volunteering Week 4.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Vijayant Ranjan, CEO-IEL & Chief Kalinganagar Power Station said, “We have planned to organise more such initiative at Kalinganagar and Bhubaneswar in line with Tata Power’s commitment to government’s Swachh Bharat campaign. We understand the need of keeping our environment clean and we work closely with the nearby community to extend the drive. Such initiatives are not just limited to the project area, but are extended to the entire community. We hope that the community people feel encouraged by our efforts, and resolve to keep the environment clean by cooperating with us.”

Tata Power Company gives great importance to Employee Volunteering and encourages its employees to contribute towards its efforts for community development. The Volunteering programs encourage the employees to get involved and contribute their time and effort for the welfare of the community.
