Tata Steel launches Safety Campaign at Kalinganagar

Tata-Steel-SafetyTata Steel where safety is a top priority, launched a safety campaign ‘ I am ……committed to Zero’ at its Kalinganagar Project on 28th March 2015. In a function, organized at the General Office premises of Kalinganagar Project, Mr Jeffrey A Forgang, Vice President (Safety), Tata Steel, launched the campaign.

Mr Shyam Sunder, Chief, Corporate Safety, Mr D N Jha, Chief, CSI, Mr Ajit D Kothari, Chief, Project Iron Making, Safety & Quality, Kalinganagar Project  were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.

To achieve zero accidents, six safety strategies were rolled out on the occasion. The Safety strategies seek to achieve safety leadership development, organizational safety competency & capability improvement, contractor safety risk management, road & rail safety management, integrated emergency response, infrastructure integrity management, occupational health and industrial hygiene.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Forgang said, safety culture will have to be inculcated in our habits to create a safety culture.  Mr D N Jha, Chief, CSI, KPO said, it would be our endeavor to ensure a safe work place for employees and contractors at KPO. A sticker ‘I am committed to zero’ was also released.

Tata Steel has excelled in various areas of steel making and striving to achieve Safety excellence. This campaign aims to attain the same.

Earlier, the steel major also rolled out ‘Find it, Own it, Fix it’ campaign to ensure zero harm to employees, contractors at workplace. Tata Steel has identified excellence in health and safety in all its operations as a key business imperative. The Company has adopted and applied a range of programmes, including those from DuPont, the world benchmark in safety, to establish a strong safety culture among its employees and contractors. Mrs Chandra Saran, Sr Manager, Corporate Safety & Health conducted the programme.
