They Show the Way by being Good SamaritansRayagada, July 11: State Resource Centre(SRC) for Adult Education alongwith Sakshyar Bharat, Rayagada have joined hand with the local jail authorities in reforming a few inmates who have become examples before their peers. Those good souls decided to empower them through higher studies. The efforts of SRC have paid off.

With the support of Mr. Rajkishore Nayak, Superintendent of Rayagada Sub-jail and Mr. Nilanchala Panda, Sub-Asst. Jailor and Mr. Premananda Rout, District Education Officer, the sensitization program through various means like power point presentation could be successful.

Four such inmates named Sri Kartika Ataka from Thuapadi village under Bissam Cuttack Block, Sri Srinath Bedeka from Borikhal under Muniguda block, Sri Rabindra Kumar Nayak from Dangasil under Kasipur block, Sri Madhaba Sabar from Dimiriguda under Gudari block could realize their aspiration by appearing Xth and +2 Board Examination and their applications were sent to Brahmapur Central Jail. With the wholehearted support from National Institute of Open Learning(NIOS), those four candidates successfully appeared the examination and all of them got through. They were provided free learning materials from the jail authorities.

Fortunately all are released after their terms in prison. All of them want to continue their higher studies and spread the message of peace in their respective villages. Their repentance for the crime and conviction to lead a good will show the way to budding youth in the village and wean them away from petty crimes. SRC has taught them to lead a life to live for others with self-employment and dignity.
