UAIL launches Skill Development Project 'Kaushalya' in RayagadaRayagada, Sep 7: Responding to the clarion call given by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi on skill development of youth, Utkal Alumina International Ltd (UAIL), a unit of Aditya Birla Group of Companies, situated near Tikiri, Kashipur, as a part of its corporate social responsibility(CSR), has moved a step forward in establishing a skill development project named “Kaushalya”, a tailoring training project for ladies at Nuagaon Community Centre. This project aims at skill building of the unemployed ladies followed by their gainful engagement in the peripheral villages.

This Tailoring Training Centre was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Vijay Sapra, Unit Head & President of Utkal Alumina and Mr. Jagannath Rao, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rayagada by lighting the lamp. Mr. N. Nagesh, Joint President (Projects), Mr. M. Ramesh Kumar, Sr. VP (HR, Admn. & CSR), addressed the gathering. Amongst others,IICs from nearby Police Stations, Mr. A. Satyanarayana, AGM – Admn. (Mines), Mr. Siba Mahapatra, AGM – CSR, Mr. Rabunu Majhi, Sarpanch (Maikanch GP), Mr. Judhesthi Jhodia, Mr. Kishore Disari, Mr. Makaranda Pujari along with thirty six women trainees from Nuagaon, Ratachuan, Andirakanch, Maikanch and Kanchguma villages attended this programme.

While appreciating the effort in empowering the poor young women of the area, the dignitaries and community leaders expressed that this initiative will not only help in acquiring employable skill for the young ladies but will also go a long way in generating a livelihood for them.

It is worth mentioning that Utkal Alumina has successfully facilitated a Garment Manufacturing Unit under Project Saksham at Tikiri and this unit at Nuagaon will work hand in hand with the Tikiri unit as a part of forward linkage. “The district administration can assist these units by placing bulk orders for dress materials used in the schools managed by Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan and SSD Department”, said Sri Ydhisthir Jhodia, Ex-Sarpanch of maikanch Gram Panchayat.

Mr. Sushanta Kumar Dhal, Asst.  Manager (CSR) of Utkal Alumina coordinated the programme and Ms. Suvashree Parichha extended vote of thanks.
