Utkal Alumina bags OTV CSR Award for Women Empowerment

Rayagada, October 19: Utkal Alumina International Ltd.(UAIL) at Tikiri, Kashipur, which is a part of Birla Group of Companies, has made a dent in Corporate Social Responsibility. It has bagged yet another prestigious and coveted award – OTV CSR Award- 2015 for Excellence in CSR in Women Empowerment category. The Company received the award for its contribution towards women empowerment by giving an opportunity in mainstreaming the women by making them self-sufficient through its Project Saksham.

In a glittering function held at Bhubaneswar, the Trophy was received by Mr S.K. Mishra, Advisor, HINDALCO, Sri M.Ramesh Kumar, Sr. Vice President (HR, Admin, & CSR) and Sri Siba Mahapatra, AGM (CSR) from the Union Tribal Affairs Minister Mr Jual Oram.

In all, more than twenty companies participated in this competition. It is heartening to mention here that Utkal Alumina has recently been conferred with the most prestigious IDA-CSR Award 2015 for its remarkable contribution in the field of Education by providing access to quality education for underprivileged class of society.

From an humble beginning made five years ago when Utkal Alumina started its CSR initiatives in the remote corner of Orissa in right earnest (from ground Zero), it is now taking it to a recognition at a national level. Utkal Alumina has  come a long way and it’s indeed a remarkable journey for entire Utkal fraternity as far as CSR is concerned.
