Vedanta Foundation inaugurates Child Care Center

Vedanta Foundation Child Care CenterVedanta Foundation, the fully funded charitable trust of Vedanta Resources Plc with a heart for social development inaugurated a new child care center at Kapaguda, Lanjigargh in Odisha to provide free education and nutrition for holistic development of tribal children in the age group of two and half years to five years.

The centre was inaugurated by Mr. Jalaj Malpani, Head-Finance, Sesa sterlite Ltd., Lanjigarh and amongst others present at the occasion were Mr. B. S. Mund, GM-Power Plant, Mr. Ranjan Sharma, Head-CSR Dept., Sesa Sterlite Ltd., Lanjigarh, Mr.Abhi Majhi and the Village Head of Kapaguda. Kapaguda, a remote village at Kalahandi district is mostly inhabited by the ethnic tribes is lagging behind in Child care, Nutrition and Education. Through a survey Vedanta Foundation found that there are around 23 deprived children in Kappaguda.

Vedanta Foundation, implementing partners, is running 35 Child Care centers in the state and covering around 1000 children. The New centre like others will be providing child care, nutrition and pre-school education ensuring physical, psychological and social development of the children. All these are done through specially designed curriculum that fosters the sensory, congenital, language, physical and social development of the child through play-way learning in Child Care Centers.

Mr. D.P. Agarwal, Founder Trustee, Vedanta foundation -said “The Foundation is committed to bring social changes through various activities for the economically poor people in India and we are extremely happy to include Kappaguda as new Child care centers”

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Lona Nayak, CEO, Vedanta Foundation said, “Vedanta’s Child care programme is designed as a daycare to manage the children of age group 2-6 years for a better life. Currently, we house over 2000 children in 76 centers across India and imbibe good ethos and values which will be carried out by them in the society at large” added Lona Nayak.”
