Youth Red Cross holds 20th State Level Conference in Bhubaneswar

Youth Red Cross- OdishaBhubaneswar, Sep 4: State level Conference of the Chairpersons and Convener Secretaries of District Committees of Youth Red Cross (YRC), Odisha organized today at Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education, Science & Technology, Govt. of Odisha and Chairman, State Working Committee graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest and asserted that Principals and Counselors of Nodal Colleges can earn a name for themselves & for  their institution by engaging the Youth Red Cross Volunteers of their institutions in rendering various humanitarian services. He also highly appreciated the commendable activities undertaken by the Youth Red Cross Volunteers in recently completed Nabakalebara and Ratha Yatra, 2015.

Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society-Odisha State Branch and Secretary, Youth Red Cross Odisha welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and thanked the Chairmen and Convenor Secretaries for their commitment and dedication in carrying out various activities of Youth Red Cross at District level.

He reiterated the fact that Youth Red Cross Volunteers have the potentiality to change the world to be a better place for all of us. Dr. Panda encouraged the principals to organise various training programmes to build the capacity of YRC Volunteers, so that at the time of need they can provide effective service.

Prof. Dr. Nihar Ranajn Pattnaik,  Director, Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, North Odisha University, Prof(Dr.) B. Chhatoi, Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Dr. U. N. Sahoo, S.L.O.-cum-Dy. Secretary, Dept. of Higher Education, Principal, F.M. (A) College, Balasore, Principal, Rajendra (A) College, Bolangir, and around 50 Principals and Convenor-secretaries of Youth Red Cross from 30 districts of Odisha have participated in the Conference and finalized the annual Action Plan and Programmes of Youth Red Cross, Odisha at the State as well as district level.

Dr. Debadatta Satpathy, Youth Red Cross Officer presented a brief annual report of Youth Red Cross activities undertaken during the session 2014-15 and  coordinated the entire programme. Formal Vote of thanks was proposed by Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary, IRCS,OSB at the end of the programme. The day long programme was assisted by Sri Lingaraj Panda.
