YRC Odisha organises Awareness Programme on Environment Protection & Sanitation

YRC, BhubaneswarBhubaneswar, March 01: One day awareness and advocacy programme on Environment Protection, Sanitation, Plantation, Climate Change & Global Warming for the Youth Red Cross Volunteers & Counsellors was organized on Monday by the Youth Red Cross unit of the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch at Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. In this programme more than 160 Youth Red Cross Volunteers & Counsellors from different Colleges of the state had participated.

The main objective of the training programme was to promote awareness on Environment protection, Sanitation, Plantation, Climate Change & Global warming among the youth and the   community both in campus as well as in the society.

The programme was inaugurated by Sri Sudhansu Bhusan Mishra, Former Chief Secretary, Odisha and Member of Working Committee, IRCS-OSB as the Chief Guest and highlighted the importance of environment protection & cleanliness, plantation, climate change and global warming. He said that the Youth Red Cross volunteers can create and intensify the spirit of volunteerism among the youth to increase the public environmental awareness and demonstrate a commitment for environmental protection.

Dr. Bijaya Mishra, Sub-Committee Member of Family Counselling Center, IRCS-OSB and Director of Project, MAMATA joined as the Guest of Honour and said that environmental issues such as global warming and climate change can be stopped through plantation programmes.

Commodre Kuldeep Chaturvedi, Ex-Deputy Director, NCC , Odisha joined as the Guest of Honour and appreciated the activities undertaken by Odisha Red CrossDr. Chakradhar Panda, Secretary, Youth Red Cross, IRCS-OSB welcomed all the participants and expressed that the youth has the key role to play in bringing about these reforms in society by raising awareness to change sanitation behavior and mitigating environmental pollution.

Besides, a training programme was organized for the participants. Dr. Sailabala Padhi, Director, Centre for Environment Studies delivered a talk on Environment Protection and Global Warming, Sri Jayakrushna Panigrahi, Secretary, Odisha Environmental Society delivered a talk on Environment Protection, Sri Basudev Nayak, Forest Ranger Cuttack delivered on Plantation and Sri Kaisik Mishra, Asst. Professor, Regional Health Centre delivered talk on Health & Hygiene.
