Odisha Govt targets 100% enrolment by end of December

aadhard-card-odishaOdisha Government on Wednesday announced a target to provide Aadhaar cards to all people living in the state by end of December.

The Adhaar enrollment in Odisha has picked up with around 78% of achievement during last couple of months. This has been discussed in high level review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sri Aditya Prasad Padhi in secretariat conference hall today wherein Principal secretary IT Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena presented the updates and outlined the issues for discussion.

Reviewing the progress, Chief Secretary Sri Padhi directed the collectors to adopt the method of gram Panchayatwari saturation model for the enrollment. Sri Padhi also directed the collectors to give special focus on Annganwadi centers, schools and hostels for adhaara enrollment of the students left so far. The collectors were further advised to make use of the house to house SSA survey data available in school & mass education department.

Replying to a media query after the meeting Sri MVS Rami Reddy, Deputy Director General UADAI said, “very soon we would deploy more number of kits in Odisha. The district administrations in the State are taking proactive steps and the enrollment has been expedited. We hope to complete 100% enrolment by end of December, 2016”.

Available data show, it was targeted to enroll around 4.43 cr persons taking in to account the expected population of 2015. By 31 st August, 2016 Aadhar numbers of around 3.45 persons have been generated.

Similarly, adhaara seeding of the beneficiaries of public distribution system has gone up to around 69% against the national seeding average of around 61%. The seeding in MGNREGA has gone up to 61%. Now the district wise work plans have been put in place for enrollment of balance 99.36 lakh persons. The majority of this population is in the age group of 0-17 years. In total 24 enrollment agencies of 6 non-state registering bodies like Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, CSC-SPV, Dena Bank, and Union Bank of India, NSDL along with ECIL have been engaged in the work of enrollment. Sate Govt have requested Unique Identification authority of India (UADAI) to enhance the deployment of kits and operators along with necessary equipments and staff to 2550.

Development Commissioner Sri R. Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary Food & Civil Supplies Sri P.K.Mohapatra, Secretary School & Mass Education Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary Scheduled Tribe & scheduled Caste Development Sri Surendra Kumar, Secretary Skill Development & Technical education Sri Sanjaya Kumar Singh, Special secretary IT Rudra Narayan Pallai along with senior officers from UADAI and respective departments participated in discussions. The collectors participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
