SC extends Aadhaar-Mobile phone linkage to March 31

ONI Bureau:  The Centre on Thursday accepted the Supreme Court’s suggestion to extend the mandatory linking of Aadhaar with mobile phone to March 31, 2018.

The earlier deadline for linking Aadhaar with mobile SIM was set at February 6 while for new bank accounts that was decided December 31.

The government on Thursday told the Apex Court that the Centre had extended deadline for all schemes to March 31, except mobile phones and to extend the phone deadline, the apex court had to pass a separate judicial order.
