Odisha Government to conduct large-scale COVID-19 tests

The Odisha government urged the people to participate in its efforts to lead large-scale corona tests to detect hidden cases as the next 8 to 10 days are very crucial for flattening the COVID-19 curve in the state.

The urge was made by Development Commissioner S Mohapatra while summarising media on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state. He said it would be too early to cheer overdetection of just 60 COVID-19 positive cases within one month. The state would be able to assess the actual position of the pandemic only after getting test reports during the mass test to be conducted during the second phase of the lockdown scheduled to end on May 3, Mohapatra claimed.

“Though the majority of the samples tested so far are negative in the state, we should not be happy thinking that Corona is defeated. We will be confident only after conducting tests on a large-scale. However, the rate of corona positivity in Odisha remains low in comparison to the global and national average,” Mohapatra said.
